CopyEngineer is John Cole, a freelance  B2B copywriter specializing in lead generation and edu-marketing content for technology-producing companies.

A former avionic systems engineer and project manager, John has over 20 years industry experience developing and working with the type of products he now promotes.   He has written for such industry giants as Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Alenia Aeronautica, and for many smaller companies, as well. So, he is one of only a small handful of B2B copywriters in high tech who have actually been part of their target audience.

John has designed system operation and specified requirements for incorporating dozens of new capabilities on advanced fighter aircraft. He’s won awards for successfully completing high-profile design projects – including the first launch of a high-off-boresight air-to-air missile targeted with a helmet-mounted sight. He is accustomed to quickly coming to grips with new technologies and effectively communicating their operation and benefits to both engineers and executives.

John’s industry experience extends into management, training and marketing, as well. So he’s finely attuned to the needs and concerns of business decision-makers. While working for a small engineering services firm, he managed business development activities that grew the company by 123% in just 3 years. He designed and directed a systems engineering training program that helped his employer gain a dominant position among its competitors. And his development of effective sales presentations and other marketing collateral helped double the firm’s contract volume…while opening a new professional path for himself.

Since shifting his focus from engineering to marketing, John has pursued extensive training in the art of persuasive copywriting. He is a graduate of the direct response and business-to-business programs of the American Writers and Artists Institute. And he is a regular participant in professional copywriting conferences, seminars and workshops, where he has had the opportunity to learn directly from such copywriting legends as Michael Masterson, Bob Bly, Clayton Makepeace, Herschel Gordon Lewis, Paul Hollingshead, Michael Stelzner and Steve Slaunwhite.

John holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Lehigh University.

When he’s not helping clients generate more leads and increase sales, John enjoys skiing the Italian Alps, singing, listening to opera, and savoring the marvelous food, wine and countryside of Northern Italy with his wife, Silvia, and daughter, Rosabel.
